Welcome to the International Paramedics Competency Assessment Page

This self-assesment tool is based on a 2011 National Ocupational Competency Profile (NOCP1) for Paramedics working in Canada. These competencies provide a common way to describe paramedic practice requirements in most Canadian provinces.

The NOCP describe 8 general competency areas as follows:

  1. Professional Responsibilities
  2. Communication
  3. Health and Safety
  4. Assessment and Diagnostics
  5. Therapeutics
  6. Integration
  7. Transportation
  8. Health Promotion and Safety

Please click on the above links, to complete a self-assessment for each category, as a way of identifying which level of Paramedic Practice you are able to apply for. If you think you are at a high practicing paramedic level than identified in this self-assessment, your results will identify the competency areas you need to work on, to enable you to register at that paramedic practice level.
